Stickiness – average time (second) spent per user

  • Direct, Referral – Healthy traffic sources coming to the website. Either they know the website already or they find something interesting about it from other websites. It looks like they stay the longest once they land it.
  • Social, Organic – Content marketing usually takes longer than direct outbound marketing to cultivate it. Organic traffic seems more sticky than social traffic. If organic traffic includes the company names or main product/service, it would be more appropriate to categorize them as direct traffic.
  • Paid search, Display – Users from these traffic could be first time visitors to the website, and they have less patience to understand the company. It requires to fulfill their needs more quickly compared to other sources.
  • Email – They are one step closer to the acquisition as sales/marketing team already have their email contact. At the same time, we would be more careful to build good relationship with this segment users.
